Overview
The historic Yokohama Yusen Building in Yokohama-Kannai is being converted into THE MARITIME HOTEL YOKOHAMA BAY, scheduled to open on 30 January 2027. Built in 1936 for NYK's Yokohama branch, it will retain its classical exterior. Interiors will draw on the company's overseas shipping routes, with ship models and furnishings from former cruise ships.
Rooms
Signature rooms will measure 40 to 42 square metres, while Heritage rooms will range from 48 to 54 square metres. Both categories will have king and twin options. Colours, fabrics and furniture will differ between rooms, with designs inspired by ports along former NYK routes.
Maritime Suites will add separate living rooms and bedrooms. You'll have somewhere to sit or dine away from the bed.
Facilities
The guest lounge will serve snacks, sweets and drinks, including alcohol, from 11am to 10pm. Access won't be included with every rate, so book a plan that includes the lounge if you want refreshments between outings or a drink before bed.
A 24-hour gym will be available to guests aged 18 and over, with workout clothes and shoes free to borrow. Bicycle hire and in-room spa treatments are also planned.
Dining
Restaurant Deck will serve Italian food with Spanish influences in a space with an open kitchen and outdoor terrace. Breakfast will combine a vegetable buffet, small plates ordered at the table and a choice of main dish.
Lunch, afternoon desserts and dinner will also be available, while the adjoining bar will serve drinks into the evening. Room service will provide another option for eating in your room, though breakfast delivery will carry an additional charge.
Location and transport
Exit 6 of Bashamichi Station is two minutes away on foot. Minatomirai Line trains reach Yokohama Station in about five minutes, where you can change for JR and Keikyu services.
For JR Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi Line trains, Kannai Station's North Exit is an eight-minute walk and Sakuragicho Station's East Exit is ten minutes away. Either provides an alternative to changing trains at Yokohama when arriving by JR.
Airport access
From Haneda Airport, take a Keikyu train to Yokohama and change to the Minatomirai Line for Bashamichi. Check the train's destination before boarding because Keikyu services run toward both Yokohama and Tokyo.
From Narita Airport, reserve a Narita Express service that stops at Yokohama, then make the same change to the Minatomirai Line. Allow time for the interchange and the walk from Bashamichi as well as the airport train journey.
Why stay here
Staying in a former shipping-company office will appeal to visitors interested in Yokohama's architecture and port history. The restaurant and bar will also make it possible to spend an evening at the hotel after a day of sightseeing.
Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is about seven minutes away on foot, with shops and restaurants inside the former warehouses. Yamashita Park is a 12-minute walk from the hotel and has waterfront paths, lawns and a rose garden for a longer break outdoors.
Good to know
Standard check-in will begin at 3pm, with check-out by noon. Drivers must reserve the limited affiliated parking by the day before arrival, and vehicles can't enter or leave the car park between 11pm and 7am.
