Overview
Yokohama Stadium is two minutes from the JR South Exit. Kannai Station serves the stadium and civic side of Yokohama-Kannai, with JR local trains and the Blue Line close together.
Kannai isn't Yokohama's main interchange. Its advantage is proximity to the stadium, BASEGATE Yokohama Kannai, and hotels in the district. For wider rail connections and airport transfers, use Yokohama Station.
Lines and connections
JR Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi Line trains run between Kannai, Yokohama, and other stops along the corridor. The Blue Line provides a direct subway ride to Shin-Yokohama Station for Tokaido Shinkansen transfers.
The JR and subway entrances are close, but they aren't inside one shared concourse. Route directions usually name either the JR South Exit or subway Exit 1, so check which one you need before leaving the platform.
Station area
The South Exit opens toward Yokohama Park and the stadium. BASEGATE Yokohama Kannai and OMO7 Yokohama by Hoshino Resorts are also by the rail and subway entrances, with restaurants and hotels continuing through the surrounding streets.
Chinatown is within walking distance to the east. The waterfront is farther on, along streets that pass through Nihon Odori and Yokohama's port-history district.
What's nearby
Yokohama Park surrounds the stadium, while BASEGATE adds shops and dining immediately by the South Exit.
Continue east for Chinatown and Nihon Odori. Nihon-odori Station serves the Minatomirai Line and is closer to Osanbashi and Yamashita Park, while Kannai keeps JR, the Blue Line, and the stadium close at hand.
Good to know
Kannai has no direct airport or Shinkansen service. The Blue Line reaches Shin-Yokohama without a transfer, while airport trips usually require a change at Yokohama Station.
Expect heavier crowds on event days. The stadium is close, but the JR South Exit and subway Exit 1 can become busy before and after games.
