Beneath Queen's Square, Minatomirai Station places Yokohama's waterfront skyline and major hotels directly above the platforms, with Pacifico Yokohama close by.

What this station is useful for

Overview

Natural light reaches the platform about 23 metres underground. Minatomirai Station opens directly into Queen's Square in the heart of Yokohama-Minatomirai, with hotels, shops, concert venues, museums, and Pacifico Yokohama above or nearby.

This is a destination station, not a major interchange. Use it for the central waterfront and the buildings around Queen's Square; use Yokohama Station for wider JR, Keikyu, Sotetsu, subway, and regional connections.

Lines and connections

Minatomirai is MM03 on the Minatomirai Line, between Shin-Takashima and Bashamichi. Westbound trains reach Yokohama Station in about three minutes, and many continue onto the Tokyu Toyoko Line toward Shibuya and, depending on the service, farther through Tokyo.

Eastbound trains run through Bashamichi and Nihon-odori Station to Motomachi-Chukagai. This direction serves the older port district, Chinatown, and Yamashita Park. Yokohama remains the main transfer point for most airport, JR, and Shinkansen journeys.

Airport access

There is no direct airport train from Minatomirai Station. For Haneda Airport, change at Yokohama Station to Keikyu or take an airport limousine bus from a nearby hotel stop. Journeys to Narita Airport generally go through Yokohama Station for the Narita Express or Yokohama City Air Terminal for an airport bus.

Some waterfront hotels have airport buses stopping at their entrances, but these services follow their own stops and timetables rather than serving the station itself. Check the current route before treating Minatomirai as your airport departure point.

Station area

Queen's Square and the station share a large central atrium, allowing guests to reach the mall, concert hall, and connected hotels without first going outside. Inside the gates are lifts, lockers, accessible washrooms, and a convenience store.

The Queen's Square Yokohama Liaison Exit closes from midnight to 7:00 AM. During those hours, use Exit 5 and enter nearby buildings from street level.

What's nearby

The Yokohama Bay Hotel Tokyu connects directly through Queen's Square. Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama Minatomirai Hall, Landmark Tower, and Yokohama Museum of Art are all on this central side of the district.

Cosmo World and the Cup Noodles Museum are toward the Shinko waterfront. The Red Brick Warehouse is farther on, so reaching these places involves more outdoor walking than visiting the buildings immediately above the station.

Good to know

Minatomirai Station and Sakuragicho Station aren't interchangeable. Minatomirai is closer to Queen's Square, Pacifico Yokohama, and the central hotel cluster, while Sakuragicho provides JR and Blue Line access on the Landmark Tower side.

For Shinkansen travel, continue by local transport to Shin-Yokohama Station. For the widest choice of airport and Tokyo-side routes, change at Yokohama Station.
